Legal Aid of East Tennessee has partnered with the TBA Bankruptcy Law Section, the Tennessee Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission, Memphis Area Legal Services, West Tennessee Legal Services, and Legal Aid of East Tennessee to offer a virtual debt relief clinic to Tennessee citizens who earn up to 200% of the federal poverty level. The next clinic will be held on April 30, 2022 via zoom. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Ruthie Hagan will begin the clinic with an overview about the bankruptcy system, the costs and benefits of filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and why someone might not benefit from or need to file bankruptcy. Clinic clients will then be paired with volunteer attorneys in break-out Zoom rooms for personalized, confidential discussions about debt relief options, with referral for pro bono representation for those who qualify for chapter 7 bankruptcy.
Pre-registration is required. To see if you qualify, please call 865-637-0484 and mention the Virtual Debt Relief Clinic. Cut-off for registration is April 22nd.
